American actor and musician Awkwafina began her career with hilarious rap tracks that tackled sexual identity and race with a boldly comedic perspective before increasing her presence in Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first musical encounter. She played the trumpet. Alongside classical music and jazz, the young Nora started studying hip-hop when she was in her teens. When she was in high her schooling, she specialized in journalism and woman's studies. She was also a student of Mandarin for a while in Beijing. Not until after graduation did she begin to concentrate on music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an online hit, and it was featured in her debut album Yellow Ranger. Other viral hits included the queef track, and the witty NYC Bitche$ hometown tour. The latter song was linked directly into another venture Awkwafina's NYC A travel guide that was released in the year 2015. Following a career that was successful as a musician and songwriter, she took on the role of an actor. In addition to early series, such Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in the movies Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. She had a breakthrough role in 2018 with a few high profile films, including Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. It was in June that she debuted her debut film, In Fina We Trust.
